Description: 

This course will provide an overview of the policies and procedures for pharmacists participating in the delivery of publicly funded influenza vaccine for the 2019-2020 season. Join pharmacist Betty Golightly as she discusses the rules, regulations, products and resources pharmacists need to be familiar with to deliver influenza immunization. This is a recording of a live session.

 

Objectives: 

At the end of this session you should be able to:

  • Describe how to access the references & resources available for pharmacists administering influenza vaccine.
  • Describe policies & procedures including rules & regulations for the publicly funded influenza vaccine program.
  • Describe the specific influenza vaccines to be administered in the 2019-2020 season in Alberta and how to utilize an influenza consent form.

Betty Golightly’s career includes over 27 years of community practice. She has a Foundation in Travel Medicine from the Scottish Centre for Infection and Environmental Health and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). Betty successfully challenged the International Society of Travel Medicine Certificate of Knowledge Examination (Portugal). Currently, Betty is an instructor in the Pharmacy Assistant Program at S.A.I.T. and the owner and operator of Go Travel Health where she does travel health consultations and presentations.
