Open to Alberta pharmacists who are RxA members

 

Session Description: 

This Leadership Cohort has been created to establish a province wide group of pharmacist leaders who are willing and enabled to promote and share the work of RxA and pharmacists with other pharmacists, patients, policymakers, influencers, and elected officials. This session will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to participate as a member of the RxA's Leadership Cohort.

 

Session Instructor:  

Dale Cooney, BSP, MBA, CEC, ACC

Dale has over 25 years of leadership experience including positions in front line and regional management in the Alberta health system. He served as Deputy Registrar of the Alberta College of Pharmacists and Acting Registrar of the College of Regulated Dental Hygienists of Alberta. Experience as a regulator and a manager has provided Dale with a wealth of experience in leadership; management; human resources; policy and program development/evaluation; strategic planning; governance; stakeholder and government relations; coaching; and facilitation. Dale has received the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation through the International Coach Federation. He completed a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching (Royal Roads University), a Masters in Business Administration (Athabasca University), and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and a Certificate in Healthcare Administration (University of Saskatchewan).

 

Session Objectives: 

By the end of this session the learner should be able to

  • Describe what it means to be a pharmacist leader, mentor and advocate
  • Utilize a leadership point of view
  • Describe and implement theories of relationship building, influence and change management
  • Recognize the principles of coaching and good communication
  • Develop or enhance skills in communication, coaching, influence and relationship building
  • Explain what it means to practice under the Ministerial Order, Pharmacy Holdback Policy and Pharmacy Services Framework

RxA’s Leader Development Program has an estimated value of $1,500 and will be offered to participants at no cost. As space is limited there is a $150.00 registration fee which will be refunded upon completion of the program.

 

Registration includes attendance at the session, printed presentation materials, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, refreshments and a Statement of Attendance.
